Assignment - Create an Interactive Power Point that you can use for instruction (this is not just a presentation)

  1. Create a simple interactive presentation with a minimum of 5 slides
  2. Apply a template
  3. Use at least 3 different layouts
  4. Add buttons to your presentation
  5. One hyperlink to a web site
  6. Standards of good writing and good visual design
  7. Add music and/or sound

Upload to your website:

  1. Create a folder named Power Point on your web site.
  2. THEN...
  3. Go to your Power Point File and click on Save as Web Page
  4. When the box comes up, click on My Network Places
  5. Open your web site
  6. For the Power Point, open the Power Point folder and then click on Save
  7. Open your web site with FrontPage
  8. Find your Technology Projects page
  9. Hyperlink the Power Point box on your Technology Projects table to the correct file.
  10. Save

 

Qualities of an interactive lesson:

Visually‑based, behavior‑oriented teaching strategy appropriate for learners of all ages who benefit from the concrete learning experiences that graphic presentations offer.

Self‑paced instructional content appropriate for students who learn best when instructed at their own pace, or who need the benefits provided by remedial instruction outside the classroom.

bullet

Specific, logical, systematic lessons that foster individualized instruction and sequential learning.

bullet

student‑initiated and student‑controlled learning that places  responsibility for mastering material directly in the hands of the learner.

Interactivity that can be included into a PowerPoint presentation through navigation and/or feedback.

Add interactivity with buttons for navigation or answers:

1.      From the Slide Show Menu choose Action Buttons

2.      Select button appearance

3.     Choose the action that you would like the button to do

4.      Locate and size button on slide

5.      Double-click button to change color

6.      Right-click on the button to add text or change action

 

Add interactivity through hypertext for menus and links:

1.      Highlight text,

2.      Right-click selected text to choose Action Settings

3.      Select an action for the text: (such as)

q       link to another slide

q       link to another PowerPoint

q       open a file

q       open a specific web page (URL)

q       run a program

q       run a macro (or VBA application)

q       play a sound or video
