You will apply what you have learned in class by designing a  lesson plan that includes activities and resources that integrate technology, specifically the Internet,  into a content area and grade level. You may work in pairs or individually.

Step 1
Select a content area and grade level appropriate to your intended teaching practice. Your lesson plan must included standards. To help you get a picture of what content is taught at what grade levels you can examine the the Nebraska Standards, the National standards or you may also choose to use the standards for the district in which you currently work.

Select specific content standards for the grade level that you want to teach from either the state and/or national standards and/or district standards. Be sure to copy and paste all standards you choose into your lesson plans.

Step 2

Using the Internet, find 1 activity type or structure that you could use to teach the specific content area and grade level that you chose in Step 1.  You will include this in your lesson plan. For each activity type or structure you will include the following things:

 A description of the activity type or structure. Include the source of the activity type or structure. For example WebQuest is an activity type developed by Bernie Dodge. 

A description of how you would use this activity type or structure and why you chose it. 

A specific example of an activity in your content area that has already been created and is available on the Internet. You will need to briefly describe this activity and give the URL. 

There may not be an existing example of the activity type or structure that you want to use for a lesson. If you find a content site that is good quality and an appropriate source of information, you can use it to develop your own Internet activity for the content area and grade level you have chosen. For example, if you chose rain forests as your content area (this is part of 4th grade social studies) and you could not find a WebQuest about ancient rain forests you might include a web page about the Amazonian Rain Forest of Ecuador that you could use to develop your own Web Quest. For each site you will need to include the following things:

• Title and URL of the site. 
• A description of the resources available on this site. Include why you consider this to be a useful site for your content area. 

Step 3

Use Word and insert the file onto the "plans.htm" page you prepared when you set up your EDU 201 web site. Prepare your Lesson Plan with attractive formatting and clip art. Use the following format:

Explanation

In place of the reflection that is usually included at the end of completed lesson plans, you are to write an explanation of why you chose the specific Internet or other technology activities you did for the lesson.  This explanation should be a paragraph  in length and show thoughtful planning.  SAVE.

In WORD, save as techplan.htm.  (If you are using Word 2007, be sure to save it as a 2002 version) In Front Page, insert file onto plans.htm on your web site. SAVE.
