Inspiration Tutorial

Inspiration© is available on all computers in Rooms 217 and 236 at CSM.  A 30 day demo can be downloaded from the Inspiration web site.

To see a neat example of how we used technology with 9th graders in the Latina Summer Academy, go HERE and click on "graphic organizer" (need Inspiration Software to view).

Use Inspiration Software to create a graphic organizer. that you will send  to your instructor's digital dropbox.

  1. Choose a topic related to your life or planned teaching career.

  2. Choose a format from the Open Templates (look at those labeled Language Arts) under File or create your own that will best display the information you choose to present visually.

  3. There are many examples of graphic organizers at the Inspiration web site.

  4. Design the graphic organizer.  Include graphics and varied color in your design.

  5. Show at least two styles of links.

  6. Save the graphic organizer to your computer or flash drive and send to your instructor's digital dropbox.

  7. Convert your graphic organizer to Outline view and export it to Microsoft Word.  Open Word, click on File, click on the file you saved with your graphic organizer (It will have an .rtf extension.) and see how you can turn a graphic organizer into a paper by writing paragraphs for each topic in the outline.  This is a very useful tool in teaching children to write.  The export process can also be used to create a Power Point presentation from a graphic organizer.
