| You studied the reading
and understanding of poetry in the Literature for Young Adults
course. In this course we emphasize helping students to write
poetry. Some students will truly find their voices through writing
poetry while others will hate it. You may be surprised by which
students write good poetry and which do not.
Poetry is often extremely personal
to students and I do not recommend peer editing for poetry assignments
unless students choose to use it. Sharing writing is important
and students often enjoy publishing class books of poetry, but allow
students to choose the pieces that are published or shared.
