College of Saint Mary Teacher Education offers two
graduate degrees: the Master of Science in Education and the Master of
Arts in Teaching. Both of these accelerated programs are designed
to meet the scheduling needs of working professionals.
Master of Arts in Teaching
The Master of Arts in Teaching program is
delivered in a hybrid model through the accelerated Fast Track to
Teaching Program. It is designed to enable students with bachelors
degrees to earn initial teacher certification. The program of
study is planned to help students learn the knowledge, skills and
dispositions needed to become certified teachers in middle and secondary
schools. The program meets state and national standards and is
accredited by the Nebraska Department of Education. After completing
this program, teachers will rbe qualified to to teach in private and
public schools and in some community colleges.
Master of Science in
Education
The Master of Science in Education program is
designed to enable teachers to enhance their skills to meet the demands
of an ever-changing profession. The program of study is planned to help
working teachers read and evaluate educational theory, critique and
conduct research and enhance pedagogical skills. The curriculum in meets
state certification standards of and is accredited by the Nebraska
Department of Education. After completing this program, teachers will be
able to serve their classrooms or schools as master teachers and will be
qualified to serve as curriculum specialists and in-service trainers.
They may also be able to teach in some 4-year college programs. |
