Title: European Jeopardy Author: Josie Calamaio, Katie Law, Joselyn Mays Grade: 5th NE STANDARDS: 8.1.2 Students will analyze the major people, events, and ideas that led to the exploration and settlement of the Americas by Europeans.
INTEGRATED DISCIPLINE: Technology OBJECTIVES: · Students will be able to recall the information they learned last Tuesday through a game of Jeopardy. · Students will be able to state what they learned about France in a graphic organizer. ASSESSMENT: · Students will play the game of Jeopardy and we will observe what the student’s have learned through the answers they contribute. · Students will give information on France, so the teachers can make a graphic organizer.
MATERIALS: Jeopardy game board
Prizes for end of game PROCEDURES Anticipating Set: Students will be asked what they remember about England from last Tuesday. They will then participate in a game of Jeopardy from the information they already learned about England. Vocabulary: Beefeaters Activities: T: Will ask the students what they remember learning from last Tuesday. S: Will tell the teacher what they remember from last Tuesday. T: Will introduce the game of Jeopardy and divide teams. S: Will play the game of Jeopardy while recalling information they had last Tuesday to answer the questions. T: Will introduce France and the poster. S: Will give the information they learned to make a graphic organizer. Provision for Sp. Needs: I will help any student that cannot see the questions in the Jeopardy game. Will also help any students that cannot actively participate or hear. CLOSURE: The students will have an accurate knowledge of France and England when this lesson is over with. They will also have an enjoyable time with the Jeopardy game and with the graphic organizer. We will also use the digital camera to photograph the students when they are playing the game. And to take Kleigh’s picture for the passport that wasn’t done because she was absent. Reflection: I am not sure how this lesson went because I was sick this day. Josie said it went pretty good. She and Amye taught the lesson, because Joselyn and I were both absent.
