Title: Team Tag Multiplication Author: April Harvey and Katie Law
NE Standards: 4.2.1 By the end of fourth grade, students will estimate, add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers without and with calculators and solve word problems. Objectives: · To memorize their multiplication facts to 10. · To successfully complete the game with the correct answers to the multiplication problems. Assessment: · Students will go through the flashcards and review their multiplication facts up to 10 by quickly recalling them from memory. · Students will play the game Team Tag and complete it by answering the multiplication facts correctly. Provision for special needs: We will assist all the students who need help with their multiplication facts by giving them the multiplication cards to use. We will also help all students have physical disabilities. Materials: Multiplication Flashcards 4 decks of regular playing cards Procedures: Springboard (Anticipatory Set): Review flashcards and play the game of “War” with multiplying the two cards together that they turn over at the same time. T: Explain rules to them about the “War” Multiplication game. S: Play the “War” Multiplication game. T: Review flashcards and explain about going outside to play “Team Tag Multiplication.” S: Go over rules of being outside and how to behave. T: Take students outside and explain how to play “Team Tag Multiplication.” Closure: By using these multiplication games hopefully the students will be able to review and know their multiplication facts by memory. They will also have a good time and enjoy the nice weather outside. References: www.multiplication.com Reflection: This activity was adapted to stay inside. They played war multiplication inside until it was time to go outside to wait for the bus. They then played team tag multiplication. They seemed to enjoy it because they were tired of sitting inside because they had done it all day. This allowed them to exercise their muscles and be as loud as they wanted to be.
