Philosophy of Education The foundation of my philosophy is that every child is entitled to an enriching education, respect, professionalism, and parent involvement in their child’s education. Children learn through real life, hands – on lessons. I also believe that children learn by modeling. The experiences that children have should build on prior knowledge and help them link learning ideas together. This is how the children in my classroom will have an enriching education. We as educators need to prepare children for real life experiences that they may face in the present or future. Giving children real life situations gives them experience in problem solving and working cooperatively with peer’s hands – on. This will give them a foundation to be resourceful and think things through in academic or life situations that may come their way. I want the children in my classroom to respect one another and the individuals that they may encounter. I will help my children learn and gain respect for each other by having them explore their own unique characteristics and sharing them with each. This will help the children see that we are all different, but we are all special no matter what our background is. I will exhibit professionalism in my classroom by being consistent in my methods of teaching to the students; rewarding or disciplining in the classroom; and I will also be consistent with my classroom routine. Having consistency in the classroom shows the children and other staff members that you are organized, secure, and trustworthy. I will be open and honest with my students and other staff members. I will work on relating to each child and staff member that I work with. A family’s role in education is vital. Families need to work together with the classroom teacher so that they can depend on each other when their child has academic needs. The family is the main support system for a child when it comes to education. They need to know what is happening in their child’s education. I will keep an open door to the parents of my classroom so that they feel that can come and talk to me at any time about anything. This will help show that education is important to a child, their parents, and myself. As an educator I want the children to get the best education that I can give them. I believe that if I follow these things that are above I can give each child in my classroom a caring and rewarding educational experience.
