EXPERIENCE

Paraprofessional. Arlington Public Schools, Arlington, NE (2005) Am currently serving the district as a paraprofessional at the upper elementary and secondary level. Duties include 4th and 6th grade reading/writing, math class of 15 special education/Title students, individual work with student with Down’s syndrome, and some work with 3rd grade autistic student. Secondary school duties include creating and teaching individual math programs for  9th grade and 12th grade students. Also oversee independent study Computer Applications course for 10th grade student. Additionally, I moderate a gifted 4th grade literary group that meets once a week.

Student Teaching. Arlington Elementary, Arlington, NE (Fall 2004)
Am currently doing my student teaching in Special Education and Social Studies
at the 4-6 grade level. Areas include 4th and 6th grade reading, small group math, 5th and 6th grade Social Studies, modifications for student with Down’s syndrome in Social Studies and Science. Have written IEP and have attended IEP meeting.

School Secretary. Arlington Elementary, Arlington, NE (2003-2004)
Duties included secretarial work as well as overseeing discipline referrals when
principal was out of the building.

Practicum. Akimel A-al Middle School, Phoenix, AZ (2002)
Worked in an MI/MO self-contained classroom for 100+ hours. Duties included
working on communication with eighth grade autistic female, behavior
modification with sixth grade mildly retarded female, general conversation and
work with sixth and eighth grade males confined to wheelchairs, encouraging
them when possible in academic and physical areas.

Practicum. Gateway Elementary School, Phoenix, AZ (2002)
Worked with 4th grade students from low income school in areas of reading,
writing and math. Made assessments including Brigance and Slosson as well
as informal methods. Developed after school curriculum based on results and
followed with tutoring instruction.

Practicum. Los Milagros School, Phoenix, AZ (2001)
Assisted teacher in a charter school comprised of 30 Hispanic or Yaqui students
in grades 6-12. School was created to give basic reading, writing and math
instruction to students in a high risk environment. Students abilities ranged from
MI to college preparatory.

Paraprofessional. Altadena Middle School, Phoenix, AZ (1999-2000)
Worked as a paraprofessional in grades 6-8. Worked five hours per day in co-teaching situation in 7th grade language arts, 8th grade social studies, and 6th grade math. Three hours per day were spent in a self-contained behavior disorder room, working with 4-5 students that had been removed from their home school into this program.

Paraprofessional. Frontier Junior High, Olathe, KS (1997-1999)
Worked as a resource paraprofessional in grades 7-9. Worked primarily in a
resource room setting with students that needed academic support. Also
worked with one eighth grade male non-reader. Two hours per day were
spent in a behavior disorder resource room.
