Last updated on April 30, 2004. Based on a template from The WebQuest Page
Introduction Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a Mountain Lion, or even an Eagle? Well here’s your chance. In this assignment you will be choosing groups to discover what your animal eats, looks like, and who they play with.
The Task As you get in to your groups, you will surf your way through the provided websites and gather information about your animal.
The Process 1. The class will be divided into five groups, one group per animal. Each group will choose any animal that lives in the Mountains. 2. Within the group, each person will choose a required part of information, for their paper, by using the given websites in the resource section. 3. The group will be given daily class time to access the information on the computer and gather daily to discuss what information the group has found for one week. 4. Everyday for two weeks each person in the group will have journal time to write about their chosen animal. 5. The following week the group will meet daily to discuss and work on their creative presentation. Make sure to include the required information about your animal in your presentation. 6. The next week the groups will present to the entire class their creative poster about their chosen animal 7. After all presentations you will need to hand in all your findings, journals, and group papers.
Evaluation Each individual of the group will be evaluated by their journal, participation, and presentation. The teacher will use a rubric to evaluate each student.
Conclusion As you worked in your group you learned how to share and sort important information with your fellow group members. You also learned how to organize information, and thoughts of your group members for your presentation. Now that you have obtained information through your presentation and from the other groups, you will be able to recognize some characteristics about Mountain Animals.
