Resume

As an educator, I believe it is vital to form a curriculum that centers the students. I classify myself as both a progressivist and constructivist. It is essential that educators focus on the individual needs of the students and a changing world by developing a curriculum that is active, interactive, and hands-on. As a teacher, I look forward to motivating my students, teaching my students respect, responsibility, and delivering activities that will enhance the self-esteem of my students in a literate, active environment.

One of the most important skills I hope to develop is mutual respect with my students as I once did with my teachers. I will model this concept by allowing my students to be open with me and to not be afraid to confide in me. Establishing respect throughout my classroom will only enhance the environment and make it a pleasant and fun place to be for my students.

After the respect has been established, it is time to get to know my students and their learning styles. Every student has his or her own way of learning. Every student comes from a different background, so it is important to pay close attention to a student's individuality. In order to do this, I will pay attention to every student's feelings, talents, and abilities. I believe it is crucial that every educator get to know their student's on an individual level in order to help them reach their full academic and social potential.

I also believe the most effective way of delivering knowledge is through interaction and hands-on activities. The teacher should only direct the students and the students will investigate and create the knowledge. I want my students to gain their knowledge by feeding off one another and their own findings. Students are very curious beings. By using hands-on activities and interaction throughout the classroom, those curiosities will be fulfilled while arousing new ones.

Lastly, as an educator, I hope to achieve good classroom management skills. By establishing routines and consistency throughout my classroom, my students will learn organizational skills as well as feel stable in my classroom. I feel this is a crucial part the learning process. I want my students to feel comfortable and have a routine they can become accustomed to. I expect to model these life skills in hopes of making my classroom a predictable and secure place to be.
