My Teaching Philosophy

My Philosophy for Early Childhood

I believe that children learn best through active and inviting play. Children can benefit from activities that allow them to learn what they can use in their daily lives. Children learn best when they are introduced to new experiences that are developed and presented age appropriately, sized appropriately and child initiated.

I believe children should learn to think on their own, make their own choices and work cooperatively with others. I believe children should be treated with respect in a loving and safe environment.

I believe children need to be redirected at times, in a positive way. It is our belief that personal responsibility and personal respect of authority are also very important.

Along with the social experience of my Early Childhood Pre school program, I respect the academic learning process. Children will be guided into the education areas of Literacy, Math, Science and Social Studies.

Family communication is very important. I believe that parents are the first teachers of their children and I respect the diversity each family brings into the community of learning.

"Teach a child how to think, not what to think."
