I believe my role as a teacher is educate and equip students to be able to survive in the real world.  This means making sure they can read, write, think logically, make good decisions, and be responsible citizens.  This is done by involving them in hands on learning, critical thinking and involving the community in school.  It is also important to make learning authentic.  Relate what students are learning to how it will effect them today and in the future.
