My name is Candice Nielsen.
I am from Grand Island, Ne.
I am from a family of seven children consisting of
five brothers and one sister.
Throughout my childhood, I encountered many
challenges.
I learned that if you put your mind to something you
can accomplish anything.
I believe in hard work, dedication, and a never give
up mentality.
I have always wanted to become a counselor or teacher
so I pursued my dream at Nebraska Wesleyan University where I
played softball and received a Bachelor Degree in
Psychology/Sociology. I pursued a Masters Degree in
Community Counseling at the University of Nebraska Omaha and I
am now a Board Certified National Counselor.
While at UNO, I worked at Girls and Boys Town where I
found my passion for teaching children.
Currently, I am working at Omaha Bryan High School as the
Student Support Specialist where I teach children about
respect, life, overcoming challenges, taking responsibility,
problem-solving, and social skills.
I am also pursuing a Master's Degree in Teaching at
the College of Saint Mary. My desire to teach comes from
my work experiences and my love for helping others. I
enjoy seeing the positive growth in others and I want to make a
difference in as many lives as I can.
