My Philosophy I believe in order to be an effective and efficient teacher one must be knowledgeable in their subject area, organized and prepared for class, extremely good classroom managers, exhibit positive expectations for students, and continue to seek self-improvement. The atmosphere of the classroom must create a positive and productive learning environment for students. It should be a warm, cheery place were students feel safe and welcome . The classroom will be a place where learning is fun, exciting, and challenging. I believe that every child can learn and have the potential to be successful. I realize every child does not learn in the same way so I will be flexible in my teaching methods and sensitive to their needs. My teaching will be a mixture of teacher-centered and student-centered with many opportunities for cooperative learning and hands on activities. My lessons will incorporate real life experiences and teach students higher level thinking skills and problem solving skills. I will hold high expectations for my students and give them lots of praise and positive reinforcement. To establish a productive and cooperative learning environment, a teacher must possess excellent classroom management skills. At the beginning of the school year, it is very important that every classroom has a clear set of rules and expectations. It is vital that these rules and expectations are communicated to the students so they know what you expect from them every time they enter your classroom. In addition, it is very important to be consistent and fair in the enforcement of those rules. It is also important that teacher’s keep parents informed about their child’s progress in school. Communicating with parents and getting them involved in their student’s learning enhances the learning process. Assure parents that you welcome any questions they may have and keep the lines of communication are always open. There are so many factors that are necessary for obtaining excellence in the field of education. It takes a lot of time, effort, and planning to become successful in the classroom. In addition, it is very important to continually reflect on experiences and strive for nothing but excellence.
