Objective
To gain a teaching position in PreK-3rd grade and establish a learning
environment that nurtures lifelong learners.
Qualifications
Over twenty-five years of a variety of experiences working with children of all
ages.
Twelve years as Youth Services Librarian/Director at Logan Public Library: I
began a preschool story time in 1994 which is still in place at this time. I
conducted successful summer reading programs, held many after school programs,
and began a teen board for fifth-seventh graders.
Twenty-five years as Sunday School teacher, director, or youth leader.
Education
December, 2005: BS degree in Early Childhood Education with a supporting field
of Fine Arts from College of Saint Mary, Omaha, Nebraska.
August-December, 2005: Student teaching: --Third grade at Underwood Elementary
in Underwood, Iowa. Here, I conducted a special service project with the class.
We made a blanket and sent it along with other items from College of Saint Mary
to victims of hurricane Katrina. --Preschool at Tri-Center Schools, Neola, Iowa.

Classes
Senior Research: Fine Arts, Fine Behavior?, received highest evaluation. (Please

Children’s Literature: Independent study. Authored a booklet for use in
character education containing activities to be used along with selected popular
picture books.
School Clubs / Volunteer Activity
Phi Theta Kappa, International honor society of the two-year college.
Service Projects:
1) After school fine arts program for 1-6 grades, based on
theme Lewis and Clark
2) Reading for fluency, based on the use of poetry for 2nd graders

SEAN, Student Education Association of Nebraska: Treasurer 2003-2004, member
2002-present.
SETA, Student Education Technology Association: Head of a committee for
conference at College of Saint Mary Spring 2004.
NeAEYC, Nebraska Association for the Education of Young Children: Applied to
present a workshop, Children’s Literature in Character Education, at spring 2006
conference in Omaha.
Other Experience
1996-2002: Director of Logan Public Library.

Became an accredited librarian by taking two series of library management
classes given by the Iowa State Library. In these classes I designed a plan for
automation of the library cataloging system.

Implemented the automation plan to bring our library into the 21st century.

Chose the hardware and software for the network and set up the software program.

Coordinated teams to rewire the building for computer network and to barcode and
enter the entire collection into the computer.

Coordinated a shelf-remodeling project and update of furnishings.

Wrote and assisted in writing grants for various library projects including a
3-computer network for public access.

Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the library, including accounting
and scheduling staff.
