1. The Tower of English This web site is a collection of links to
resource web pages for students and teachers. It groups links by topic, such as
music and holidays, with brief descriptions of each link. This site is a great
starting point for lesson plan ideas. 2. Dave Sperling’s ESL Slang Page This web site provides extensive, easy to
use slang dictionaries. On is a dictionary of slang words of the English
language, such as ‘awesome’ and ‘jock.’ The other is a dictionary of English
phrasal verb expressions, such as ‘knock out’ and ‘pitch in.’ It would be very
easy to come up with an assignment involving students exploring this site and
writing sentences using the slang they learn. 3. Activities for ESL Students This web site is a collection of self-administered English grammar quizzes that students can take and get immediate results. It will be useful for when I need to check to see what areas of English grammar my students are struggling with. There are also some crosswords, but not many games. There are links to other teacher-friendly sites that could offer ideas for lesson plans. The design is very boring, which students may balk at. |
