Students will
observe art in history and the meanings and uses of art.
Objectives:
Students will be
able to: Name prominent artists in history and a famous piece of theirs.
They will also successfully produce a composition influenced by the artist
and interpret their own meaning and use of the art they created. This will
all be compiled into a two page summary.
Assessment:
Teacher will assess
if research was done correctly on artist.
Teacher will assess if the general procedures of painting are done
correctly.
Teacher will assess if the student created a composition that was
influenced by their artist, not recreated.
Teacher will assess the one page summary for original ideas.

Set:

Learning
Activities
Teacher:
-Teacher will
present a famous painter and their paintings on the overhead.
-Teacher will
present an already finished painting that was influenced by that
painter.
-Teacher will
lecture and show about the basic steps of painting.
Students:
-
Students will be expected to do research the first class period and
finish as homework if not completed.

Students will be expected to draw out a sketch of their painting.
-
Students will be expected to complete the painting in three class
periods.

Students will be expected to have their paper turned in on the 6th
class period and present their painting to the class.
Provision for
special needs:
-
Assistance will be provided for any student who needs help with
technology.

Assistance will be provided for anyone during the class times.

Extra
time explaining the assignment will be provided.
Closure:

Students
will give a short presentation explaining the painter and painting they
chose. Finished paintings will be at the front of the classroom and
everyone will guess what painting goes with what famous painter.

Everyone is influenced by someone or something. It can still be your
own original ideas and pieces of work.

Reflection:
- I chose this
lesson because almost all famous painters were influenced by another.
Students can learn to create their own works of art that are influenced by
other artists but still are their own original ideas.
