On April 29, 2004 I attended the NETA conference in Omaha, Nebraska.  The conference was definitely an interesting experience.  I was amazed at how much was going on at the conference.  There was always something going on and always something to do.

The first break out session I attended was "Teachers Gone Wild".  It was very interesting.  It was about how two teachers have started using a movie editing program for projects in their classrooms.  I think it was a great idea because it was fun for both the students and the teachers.  From making these videos, students could bring a lot of useful information home.  I was very glad I attended this session.  It taught me a lot and got me interested in movie making and even in using it in my classroom in the future.

The second break out session I attended was "Technology...It's Not Just Computer".  It was also a very interesting presentation.  I especially liked this session because the presenter included 4 of her students.  I thought this was great because it showed that the students really learned from what she was saying.  Some of the areas the teacher studied were:  palm pilots, a willow cam, and techno pals.  The willow cam was a program where the students would put on their own news and weather presentations.  I think the students really enjoyed it, which was a major plus.  Techno pals was a program where the first semester the students would learn everything they could about technology.  The second semester the students would be paired with a teacher where they could share their knowledge.  I thought this was wonderful because the teachers were able to learn more and the students were able to have valuable relationships with the teachers.

Overall I thought the NETA conference was a wonderful experience.  If a person was to go for the day they could learn about almost anything they can imagine.  It is a great idea for teachers to go and share their knowledge with others of their level!
