Kasey Sliva Integrated Lesson Plan 2 Ten Little Fish Music Lesson Pronged Focus: 2 Prongs: Reading and Music NE Standards: 4.1.2 By the end of the fourth grade, students will demonstrate the use of multiple strategies to increase their vocabulary. 4.2.4 By the end of the fourth grade, students will demonstrate the use of multiple forms to write for different audiences and purposes. Student Objectives: Students will: read and interpret the book the Ten Little Fish. connect the book, Ten Little Fish, with the song Under the Sea. explain the feelings portrayed by the song Under the Sea. discover different instruments and listen for them in the song Under the Sea. Provisions for Special Needs: Students with special needs can work in pairs to interpret the music and search for the instruments in the music. Introduction: The class will read the book Ten Little Fish. They will then explain the feelings they get from the book. Development: The class will listen to the song Under the Sea. They will explain the feelings they get from the song. Class will compare the feelings they get from the book to the feelings they get from the song. Class will discover different musical instruments and learn that they can also portray different feelings. Teacher will ask why the class things the musical instruments can make them feel a certain way. The class will then listen to the song Under the Sea again and listen for the instruments in the song. Conclusion: Students will be put into groups and get the opportunity to create their own song. They will change the feeling of their songs by changing the tones in their voices. Assessment: Did the students comprehend the book Ten Little Fish? Did the students explore their feelings of the book and song? Did the students detect the different instruments in the song Under the Sea? |
