Kasey Sliva Integrated Lesson Plan 1 The Three Little Pigs Drama Lesson Pronged Focus: 2 Prongs: Reading and Drama NE Standards: 1.1.4 By the end of first grade, students will read and demonstrate comprehension at grade one level, using a variety of strategies. 4.3.1 By the end of the fourth grade, students will participate in group discussions by asking questions and contributing information and ideas. 4.3.2 By the end of the fourth grade, students will deliver organized oral presentations using complete sentences, clear enunciation, adequate volume, and eye contact. Student Objectives: Students will: 1. read and interpret the story The Three Little Pigs 1. be able to act out the story in a group. 2. discuss how one play can be acted out in many different ways. Provisions for Special Needs: • Children with special needs can work in collaboration with the teacher to act out the play or can be the director of a play. Introduction: • The class will discuss how many stories are acted out and made into movies or television shows. • Class will brainstorm any stories they know of that have been made into movies or television shows. Development: • Teacher will read the story The Three Little Pigs to the class. • Class will then discuss what steps would need to be taken in order to act out the story. • How the story could e modified to be more easily acted out. • How to act like the characters. • Etc. • Class will get into groups. • Each group will practice and act out their own version of the play. Conclusion: Class will discuss how each play differed even though each group acted out the same story. Assessment: • Did the students comprehend the story of the three little pigs? • Did the students act out the story to the best of their ability? • Did the students discuss how each group acted out the play differently?
