Procedures: Anticipatory Set: · Class will discuss what was learned in the previous lesson and brainstorm other kinds of data that could be used to make similar graphs. Activities: · Teacher will show the class a container of valentine candy · Students will: o Predict which color candy they think will be found most frequently. o Sort and classify a cup-full of Valentine Heart Candy according to color on their sorting/classifying sheets (can be done in small groups). o Record their color counts on their recording sheet. o Graph their final results. o Students will discuss their findings. Closure: · Candy Hearts will be distributed for eating. · Students will share their results in small groups. · Students will write out number sentences about their graphs. Reference:
