Forest E. Witcraft once said, “A hundred years from now it will not
matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or
the kind of car I drove...but the world may be different because I
was important in the life of a child.”
Witcraft’s words embody my values and the relation they have
to my passion for becoming an educator.
Today’s society focuses on materialistic goods that will
eventually perish, however, as referred to in the quote, knowledge
is everlasting.
Education has always been very important to me.
As the daughter of an art teacher, both art and education
have always been important influences in my life.
Therefore, it seemed ideal for me to pursue a career
combining these two interests.
Central College in Pella, Iowa, offered me the opportunity to
further my knowledge in art.
After fulfilling my Art major and Visual Communication Minor,
I graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2008.
In order to continue my education, I enrolled in the Masters
of Arts in Teaching program at the College of Saint Mary in Omaha,
Nebraska. Following my
graduation in 2009, I will be endorsed in teaching art at both the
primary and secondary level.
I look forward to sharing my knowledge with others and
enlightening the lives of my students.
